Lame Come-on of the Day

"You remind me of someone...You look like my ex-girlfriend! You also remind me of the way she shopped."

Well, I guess my looks-like-ex-girlfriend discount did come in handy. I got $18.50 worth of merchandise at the City of Oakland Gift Shop for $10, along with a name and number I'll never call.

Poor Cow Car

I got into a car accident this past Friday. The repair shop is looking into possible causes, but one of the ladies who work there thinks it might have been the rear tire-blowout. Once that happened, the car swerved from side to side and hit the right rail of the 580 overpass (I was in the left lane) at least a couple of times before I got the car back in control.

The whole experience now seems a bit like a dream. The reality of it comes mostly in the fact that I now walk, bus, or ask for rides. I don't think I am that eager to drive until I find out exactly what caused the accident.

My life did not flash before me. While part of me fought hard to regain control, part of me thought matter-of-factly, "So this is how I go." I was proud of myself, however, for keeping cool in a situation like this.

I am very lucky that no other car was around me, and that I did not injure anyone else. Although when I think about my insurance costs going through the roof, along with pending law school application fees, I feel broke as well.

Mmm...Cookie

After Ryan M. came back from Hawaii, he brought me a pack of Mauna Loa White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut cookies. They were so very good. Very, very good. So good that all night last night I dreamt of searching for them here in Oakland.

On Saturday, in real life, I had looked in Safeway; no luck. Thank God for online ordering. I ordered 5 packs from the Mauna Loa website; they're scheduled to be delivered July 29. No sharing! Mine, mine, mine!

Car Wars

I hate the DMV. I think they are the culprit: I've received my third jury summons of the year, under yet another spelling of my name! In one variation of my name, one of the O's is replaced with a zero.

Hello, my name is "Yo-zero-fong," human-cyborg relations, and this is my counterpart, DMV-IH8U.

Sakki-Sakki

I preordered the Sakki-Sakki Tarot Deck, and I'm very excited about getting it! The artist has been really excited about orders, and always responds to my emails with exclamation points. Since I also preordered the deck awhile ago, I'll also be getting other goodies with it.

The artist did seem to study the Rider-Waite (I'm not checking the spelling) deck, but obviously has made many departures from it. It looks like such a happy deck, so I'm very excited about spreading the happiness around! Look at the Devil; he looks happy, too:

Uh, I don't really know too much about giving readings or anything, but I do love Tarot art. I'm debating whether to get the Golden Tarot, Nefertari's Tarots, or Tarot of Prague next.

5/17/2005 Update: I've since purchased all three decks.

My Love is Poison

I found out that Jonathan Brandis committed suicide. And then, when browsing the internet yesterday, I found out that Christopher Pettiet had also died--of an accidental drug overdose. Both were my teen idol loves.

The following lists some other poor boys I like (or used to like) who might end up like JB and CP in the future. I've indicated on a scale of 1 to 5 the likelihood (5 being VERY likely) they may croak prematurely, based on how much I was/am in love with them.

Orlando Bloom (Used to Love, 5). Man, how I loved this boy. I really wanted to live in a treemansion with him and learn Elvish. But then I realized I only thought he was hot as a blond. I drove past some guy in Oakland who looked like the brunet him, and I did have an immediate "Hot!" reaction. Which confuses the situation a bit.

Jake Gyllenhaal (Used to Like a Lot, 3). He'll always be Donnie Darko to me.

Christian Bale (Just Really Good Eye Candy, 1). Prequel Batman! Yes! I've always had a crush on Batman, and now he's cute!

Ewan McGregor (Really, Really Good Eye Candy, 3). He makes me fake-swoon, but I'm not so excited about our age difference. Plus he smokes.

Takeshi Kaneshiro (#1 Cutie in My Book Right Now, 2). He's notoriously shy with women and seemed to have brought a man-date to Cannes.
